Westinghouse light signals
March 2022

The enthusiasts who follow the adventures of the MuSé regularly put us on the trail of equipment from yesteryear that is still very much in evidence on our roads.
This is what happened when we were alerted to the existence of this traffic light in Tilleur.

These signals are rare, and were made by Westinghouse, as can be seen from the crest on the flap of the pole base (this company ceased trading in 1966). What's more, the lanterns are in excellent condition, and the coloured lenses are made of smooth glass.
An investigation began... The commune of Saint Nicolas was contacted and the true owner of the signals became apparent: they belonged to Liberty Steel. It should be noted in passing that the signal normally present on the other side of the road has already disappeared. We must act quickly!
Liberty Steel was contacted by the MuSé and immediately agreed to sell us the equipment. Thanks to this excellent collaboration, the set arrived in Trooz and was saved!

The renovation of one of the two lanterns reveals the exceptional quality of the colours of the glass lenses illuminated by filament (incandescent) bulbs.
