E25 motorway, Ardennes - junction 50

In 1984, interchanges 49 and 50 on the E25 motorway in the Ardennes were fitted with fully backlit signalling. Some of this equipment was replaced in September 2023 by non-illuminated G2000 type signals.
It was by chance that the MuSé discovered some of these signals lying on the ground... With their removal scheduled by the company responsible for the modernisation, an emergency rescue was called for!
A request for authorisation to dismantle was sent urgently to the SPW in Neufchâteau. Once a positive response had been received, the sign was dismantled. The only directional sign in good condition and the only accessible "E25" cartridge were brought back to the MuSé.
After some renovation work, the signs lit up again after 39 years of loyal service on their roadside site.
