Cointe tunnel - E40-E25 link

Following an exchange of letters, the MuSé was invited by Sofico to visit the infrastructure of the E25-E40 motorway link (also known, somewhat simplistically, as the "Cointe tunnel").
We were welcomed by Patrick C, one of the site managers... "We" because the MuSé was represented by its founder, P-A Michel, and its public lighting consultant, Dominique Douette.
This kind of visit can only be organised during a night when the structures are being maintained, when traffic is prohibited.
This infrastructure is impressive not only for its size, but also for its technical sophistication. Managing the traffic and any incidents that may arise requires a level of engineering that the users of these roads have no idea about.

This link is packed with multiple pieces of equipment, some visible, such as signalling, others invisible, such as various sensors and detectors.

These maintenance closures are also an opportunity to test different safety systems. For example, we attended the commissioning of the fire exits.
